È After – Il Film ad essersi aggiudicato il premio come Miglior Film Drammatico 2019 alla 45ma edizione dei People’s Choice Award, i riconoscimenti che il pubblico dà ai preferiti della stagione cinematografica, televisiva e musicale. Sono stati la scrittrice Anna Todd e gli attori Josephine Langford (Tessa), Dylan Arnold (Noah) e Inanna Sarkis (Molly) a ritirare la statuetta.
After, la storia
Basato sul romanzo best seller di Anna Todd, diventato un fenomeno sensazionale come fan fiction su Wattpad, After racconta la storia di Tessa (Josephine Langford), studentessa e figlia modello, con all’attivo una relazione di lunga data con un fidanzato dolce e affidabile. Al primo anno di college, Tessa sembra avere un futuro già scritto, ma le coordinate del suo mondo così sicuro e protetto cambiano radicalmente quando incontra il misterioso Hardin Scott (Hero Fiennes-Tiffin), un ragazzo arrogante e ribelle e allo stesso tempo magnetico, che le fa mettere in dubbio tutto ciò che pensava di sapere di se stessa e quello che vuole realmente dalla vita.

Oltre ad After, ai People’s Choice Award la categoria ‘cinema’ ha visto sul podio anche l’acclamatissimo Avengers: Endgame – premiato come Miglior film, Miglior film d’azione e Robert Downey Jr. si è aggiudicato il premio come Miglior star maschile in un film – e Spider-Man: Far From Home. Tom Holland e Zendaya hanno conquistato una statuetta come migliori star maschile e femminile in un film d’azione.
Per la tv il trionfo assoluto è di Stranger Things, tra le serie più amate di Netflix, che è a lavoro sulla quarta stagione. Il ‘Sottosopra’ è la Miglior serie tv e la Miglior serie tv drammatica ai #PCAs e Milly Bobby Brown è la Miglior star femminile in una serie tv.
La musica, invece, ha visto sul carro dei vincitori Billie Eilish e Shawn Mendes. La cantante è la Miglior artista femminile del 2019 e il suo album ‘When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go’ è il migliore dell’anno. Il cantante, invece, è l’artista maschile dell’anno e ‘Senorita’ in featuring con Camila Cabello è la miglior canzone del 2019.
